A new perspective on sound of music: Table of Sound

Vineet ChauhanOct 24 2009

Talk of cool, this Table of Sound is uber cool. With built in speakers that are meticulously infixed onto its curvy legs and a built in iPod Dock, this piece of furniture saves itself from being ‘just another shadowy wooden table’. Table of Sound is a great artistic finesse, shown by Wondering Boys, the designer, and it may eliminate the need of any home theater system if high quality speakers are used. The embedded speakers blend in with the design so beautifully, they are almost concealed from view. Moreover, you won’t need to plug in a multimedia player everytime you feel like listening to your favorite music. An iPod dock atop the table (or any PMP connected with a minijack) will directly give you an access to feet stomping music.

Well, nothing is perfect and this table is no exception to that. The catch-22 with Table of Sound is how the speakers will be powered. Does it have a built-in powering system, in which case you’ll need to charge it after every short while of use or if it needs to be connected to an AC supply, you wouldn’t want the wire to run through the middle of your abode and into the table. Nevertheless, barring this downside, this innovative design looks prolific and I’m sure it won’t turn out to be flash in the pan. Table of Sound is just a concept and that means it’s not on sale anywhere. But you can try DIYing one yourself or rigging a few speakers to your table.

Only one word of advice for DIYers: Stealth for speakers is as necessary, as for James Bond, ‘coz if they are spotted, the whole operation then, is a mess up.
