Billboards to display noise pollution in Europe

You know how when you’re stuck in a massive traffic jam in the middle of the busiest street in the city and everyone is honking their horns around you and you feel like your ears are going to explode or something? Well, there are times when they literally can and a new initiative in Europe is out to warn drivers about exactly how much hell they are raking up while driving.

A set of billboards propped up in four European cities are measuring the local area’s noise pollution level and displaying it live for passersby to see. Though the billboards actually run an advertisement for AEG-Electrolux’s quiet running washing machines, the data collected on the billboards is also sent to a website where you can compare noise levels from city to city and the public service they render might just help citizens to cut down on the noise they create.
