Well, just like the science fiction writers of the 80s predicted, the robots are taking over the world. But the good news is they are, at least at this point, not aiming at destroying humanity. Instead they are helping Canadian doctors to communicate with patients in rural areas of Nova Scotia. Named I See You, the robots allow patients to see a specialist without having to drive for hours to a large city for a check up and their doctor can communicate with them via the robot. Developed by Dr. Ivar Mendez, a neurologist from Halifax, the robots allow for real time video communication between doctor and patient via an internet connection. Controlled by a remote connected to the doctor’s computer, the robot is also able to roam around the hospital so patients don’t even have to leave their hospital bed to have their x-rays and charts seen by the doctor. Cool, just hope that they can also make robot nurses and get them to give sponge baths to pervs!
