Tourists hoping to have a quiet afternoon of sightseeing in the Kobe Portliner Monorail were treated to a riot of colors as they discovered the usually somber urban transport system all decked up and turned into a mobile showroom for the Swedish furniture giant IKEA. The colorful treat is a promotional gimmick created to promote and celebrate the opening of the retailer’s new outlet at Port Island. Fully furnished with glamorous retro and modern patterns of upholstery, curtains and even a jazzed exterior, the redecorated train will continue its wonderland-sy run until May 6.
