Mike Rea’s bedazzling wooden wonders

Asmita PrasadJul 17 2008

Michael T. Rea is an incredibly talented sculptor who creates the most astonishing pieces using plain wood! Not that it is at all unusual for artists to use wood as a base for their creations but when you consider that Mike actually takes objects and entities made poplar by films, and popular culture, you really cannot help but marvel at the finesse of his craft.

By capturing the most strikingly detailed figures of the space capsules, scuba diving equipment, a Jet Ski, and even tools and musical instruments like a saxophone in unfinished wood; the artist seeks to convey a sense of the temporal without having the spatial boundaries limit the true essence of his craft.
