Care to know the nuance between a smirk and a slight smile? Then you gotta get this cool new smile measurement technology developed by Japanese electronics and health care company Omron Corp. Called the Okao Catch, the technology scans a video image to detect faces and the software then analyses the curves of the lips, eye movement and other facial characteristics to decipher the extent of a person’s smile using data collected from over a million samples. Okao Catch, which literally means ‘face catch’, can find and scan upto a 100 faces in an image and the technology is expected to benefit airport and land security services as well as dentists and beauty pageant trainers.
