I’m all for making everyday gadgets and gizmos more accessible to the differently-abled and the elderly, but do I really want my foggy granny, touting a gun around town? Tough question, eh? But I guess certified NRA instructor Matthew Carmel, hasn’t had much experience with cranky grandparents because the Palm Pistol he developed “for seniors, disabled and others with limited manual dexterity” isn’t something, any of us should be all that thrilled about. The ergonomically novel, single shot double action handgun, features a defensive firearm chambered in 9mm that can be fired without straining the fingers. Since the pistol requires people to use the thumb, instead of the index finger for firing it, it significantly reduces muzzle drift making the old ‘point-and-shoot’ routine even more accurate! Really interesting design, but I don’t want my granny, going around taking pot shots at dogs that wont budge out of her way, the garden gate that creaks, the car gate that gets stuck, the store gate that hits her on the way out, the store keeper whom she suspects of poisoning her cookies, cans of food that don’t open and all those miscellaneous things that annoys the hell out of her! So I’m just gonna pass on this little innovation!
