Batteries are all about endurance, and Panasonic’s Evolta batteries had a point to prove. And what better venue to prove than the 24 Hours of Le Mans, commonly known as the Grand Prix of Endurance. With just two AA batteries, the famed track saw a miniature robot (30cm long and 20cm high) complete five and a half laps, a distance of 23.7km before finally running out of juice. An infrared light emitting vehicle escorted the bot around the track, earning Panasonic a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for “the longest distance covered by a battery-operated remote-controlled model car.”
