Winston, a pigeon, is making news today because it’s faster than the broadband speed offered by Africa’s largest integrated communications company, Telkom. Unlimited IT took the services of this 11-month-old pigeon to transfer data between two corporate offices, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, a distance of approximately 50 miles. Winston took a total of two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds (including the flight time of one hour and eight minutes, and the time it took to transfer data to and from the card) to finish the transfer. When compared, they found that only 4% of the Telkom download was completed.
