Anyone tried this before? Just curious, is this a part of some survival program or something? Anyway, whosoever came up with this idea must be a genius. Why carry unnecessary utensils when a shovel can do it all. Well, these are some basic survival skills I learnt from an army personal. He said, ‘when on a mountain - there are times even a small pin in your bag, appears to weigh more than a hammer.’ Nothing works in such situations, only the fittest survive.

I’ve tried different kind of outdoor survival skills but this one is new for me.hahaha. What do you expect? Army do everything for survival. And this one, hmmm... let me think? Well, I can try that one of this days.
Outdoor Survival Skills
I have actually done this before in the boyscouts. Pretty simple really. Although I haven’t fried eggs with it, I have cooked fresh trout and perch. Works great for cooking any meat except poultry. Eggs i would imagine would stick to the shovel a little too bad. You can also turn the shovel over, and have a great place to put your pot. If you set an aluminum or tin pot directly on coals, you run the risk of melting your pot or burning your food. Placing the pot on top of a shovel will prevent both.
