An airbag for the elderly to prevent injuries

Nithya NarayanSep 25 2008

Worried about a perfect gift for your grandparents? Well worry no more as a Japanese company (Prop) recently unveiled one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen - an airbag suit for the elderly. This wearable airbag for frail pensioners, rapidly inflates to cushion them when they fall. The device costs about £700 and protects the back of the head and the bottom with two pockets of air. I think it’s a brilliant suit for motorists. But I have serious doubts about its potential for the elderly. My grandparents will be creeped out by something like this for sure!
